Private lessons
I teach saxophone, flute and clarinet. The student’s ambition and whishes is my focus. I always try to be a positive coach of the student instead of just a teacher. I can say my lessons are inspiring because I not only teach instrumental topics but I also integrate body related topics form Yoga, Mensendieck, Feldenkreis and the Dixhoorn-method and Jazz theory if necessary.
November 2006 I started the "Saxophone School Yburg" on the island "Steigereiland" in Amsterdam-Yburg. Here I offer
- 30, 60, or 90 minutes saxophone lessons
- clarinet and flute lessons
- jazz theory and analysis of a jazz standard
- improvisation (free and in the jazz tradition)
- saxophone section lessons
- concerts 2 times a year in the theatre next to my house

Saxophone Section
During my conservatory period I specialised in coaching a saxophone section. I am sure I can help your saxophone section sound better. I work with play along CD’s and sheet music available.
Jazz improvisation
I tell some things of chords, melody and rhythm and we play together in order to stimulate everbody’s creativity. It makes fun to tell your story on your instrument !
Woodwinds
I have some nice excercises to make doubling easier. Playing these (classical) doubles offers the ability to play different kinds of music and gives an arranger more freedom in his or her writing.
Educational concert “History of Jazz and the role of the saxophone”
Roughly every decade of the 20 th century is characterized by a different jazz style. I explain the these styles and demonstrate some important jazz saxophone players in these styles with piano player Orjan Graafmans. I use historical DVD's and play the soprano, alto, tenor and baritone saxophone. From dixieland to hip-hop in one hour !
Workshop Tango
With my tango quartet we guide you through the history of tango en play some tango's in a charecteristic setting. The Argentinian bandoneon player Astor Piazzolla plays a central role in our story. We like to make ensembles out of the audience en let them play some of our arrangements. We can also organise a tango demonstration by professional dancers.
Workshop Kind of Blue
Developed around the historic record "Kind of Blue" which Miles Davis recorded with his sextet in 1959. We analyse solo's and learn why this record is so important. Of course there is enough room to play some tunes of this record if you have knowledge about scales on your instrument.
Course "Understanding JAZZ"
This a special course for people with little knowledge about jazz-music. Within one hour I guide you through form, chords, history and improvisation. We listen to some recordings with my comments.
